James Cook University approached us to transform a manuscript into an engaging and practical guidebook aimed at equipping practitioners with the knowledge to drive positive impacts through fisheries co-management. The guidebook was designed to provide clear, accessible information to support sustainable management practices in fisheries.
Our writers began by editing the manuscript, simplifying the content to make it shorter, clearer, and more suitable for a guidebook format. We worked closely with the research team to ensure the material remained accurate while being easy for practitioners to follow.
Together with our graphic design team, we conceptualised and designed infographics to visualise key concepts in the guidebook, such as Sustainable Indigenous Management of Fisheries, Nutrition-Sensitive Fisheries Management, and Co-Management Adoption and Spread. The infographics were carefully crafted to reflect diverse communities, landscapes, and real-world scenarios, with a strong focus on scientific accuracy and cultural relevance.
Our designers also handled the overall layout and design of the guidebook, ensuring alignment with the branding guidelines of WorldFish, the research partner and publisher of the guidebook. To further extend the guidebook’s impact, the infographics were printed as large posters and distributed to Ministries of Fisheries in the Pacific region, helping to disseminate key information. The guidebook has since been used by James Cook University in workshops across the Pacific and as the foundation for a university course.
The final guidebook, complete with detailed and accurate infographics, has served as a valuable resource for practitioners, educators, and policymakers, helping to drive sustainable fisheries co-management in the Pacific and beyond.
