James Cook University (JCU) approached us to help communicate the key findings of a journal article titled, “Linking Small-Scale Fisheries Co-Management to the UN Sustainable Development Goals”. The paper highlights the critical role that small-scale fisheries co-management plays in achieving several UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in promoting sustainable use of marine resources (SDG 14), eradicating poverty (SDG 1), and ensuring food security (SDG 2).

We collaborated closely with the authors from JCU and WorldFish to create a visually engaging infographic that distilled the paper’s complex content into an easy-to-understand format. The infographic emphasised the link between small-scale fisheries co-management and the SDGs, using the SDG icons to clearly highlight these connections and illustrate their global significance.

To ensure wide accessibility and impact of the product, the infographic was made available online and promoted through social media in a targeted campaign.

The bright, visually appealing infographic served as an effective tool for summarising the paper’s findings, making it actionable for stakeholders looking to implement sustainable fisheries practices and advance progress toward the SDGs.
